The first form that oppression takes is invisibilisation. Oppression is all the more normal, because it does not provoke a reaction. Silence = Death

Videos of the Cycle of meetings "Collecting, preserving and exhibiting the social history of HIV-AIDS

As early as 1994, the Musée National des Arts et Traditions Populaires (MNATP), the precursor of the Mucem, initiated a reflection on the history and memories of the struggles against AIDS, which allowed the museum to carry out a vast collection in the 2000's, constituting a heritage representative of the history and memories of the struggles against HIV-AIDS in France and in many countries of the Euro-Mediterranean zone.

Today, the Mucem is considering how to make public the fruits of these collections and the memory of the social struggles that have accompanied the recent history of HIV-AIDS: how to build an exhibition project that would highlight the social inequalities in the face of the disease, the extent of collective mobilizations, the new relationships to sexuality or death, as well as all the questions relating to human rights that HIV-AIDS has brought to light in society?

In order to contribute to the theoretical construction of this project and to reflect on the place that the museum should occupy in the restitution of this memory, we invite all those - researchers, associations, individuals, etc. - who feel concerned or interested in the history of HIV-AIDS to participate in this project. - who feel concerned or interested in the history of HIV-AIDS, to help the Mucem in this process and to participate in the meetings and debates proposed since 2017.

The sixth study day of the cycle "Collecting, preserving and exhibiting the social history of HIV-AIDS" from October 27, 2017 to May 24, 2019 will be devoted to public representations of the epidemic. It will be structured around four moments: 'Witnessing', 'Informing', 'Experiencing' and 'Exhibiting'. The aim is to explore different modes of expression, whether social or artistic, whether they come from HIV-positive people (testimonies) or from the media (TV programs, photographic reports).

It is a film about the actors of African advocacy who are struggling on a daily basis to enable people most vulnerable to HIV / AIDS to access prevention and treatment, to have their rights recognized and to have their voices heard. The film reminds us that advocacy has always existed and is now a profession, even in difficult political contexts.
